Germany, Third Reich. A Mine Rescue Service Medal, Type III Province of China but holed on reverse (probably(Grubenwehr Ehrenzeichen). Instituted on January 30th, 1938 by A. H. (1938 1945 issue). Constructed of silvered tombac, on a replacement loop for suspension from its period original replacement ribbon, the obverse bearing a raised and crossed hammer and mallet, overlaid by a German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika, the reverse bearing the raised inscription Fr Verdienste im Gruben Wehrwesen (For Merit in Mine Rescue), unmarked,
