surrounded by an additonal gold knurled ring - all superimposed on a gold green enameled Maltese cross

each of the eight sets being separated by a shorter silver-gilt-edged blue enamel ray with bifurcated end

the order accompanied by its 36 mm (w) x 9 mm (h) ribbon bar

The First Pattern F-S was produced for a  nine month period and remained reasonably consistent in both its design showing very little deviation or change from what we now recognize as the standard form

Constructed of silvered bronze with enamels, the obverse consisting of a black enameled oval within a pebbled border, with a central mobile swastika overlaid by double Sig runes, flanked by initials FM, the original reverse issue number has been coated out and engraved with a number of L20456, above a makers mark of DESCHLER, MCHN, measuring 19. 78 mm (w) x 15. 26 mm (h), demonstrating some surface scratching to
