It was introduced in 1915 by the French and was eventually copied by the Germans. The type B was smaller then the first 1915 model and was comprised of cast aluminum. The 40. 5 inch barrel was mounted on a cast aluminum, fixed angle of 42 mount. It was fired by air pressure with a system of tanks and pistons. It fired a 60mm shell.
