Kuji for Self Defense Book by Eric Shahan Tsuyoshi Kosaka 1 Introduction ~ What isThis book is a reprint, transcript and translation of Kuji Goshin Ho Kuji for Self Defense. Kuji means nine seals. It was published in 1881 based on a book by the Mountain Ascetic Gyochi (1778~1841) who was the abbot of a temple in Edo and wrote the original manuscript in 1812. Each page of the book will be reproduced, transcribed from old style Japanese script into plain text and then translated into English with additional photographs and notes. 161
