This is a very interesting example of a British P 1853 Style Rifled musket, manufactured in the Belgian city of Lige. During the early 1860s, many European countries were making or converting large numbers of percussion firearms. This action was clearly aimed at the Overseas market, most specifically the United States, who were embroiled in its most terrible Civil War. At some point after manufacture, this particular
