A circular medal constructed of gilded bronze, the obverse with a raised and finely detailed Lbeck coat of arms, circumscribed by an inscription of DER SENAT DER FREIEN UND HANSESTADT LBECK (THE SENATE OF THE FREE AND HANSEATIC CITY OF LBECK), the reverse bears a wreath of oak leaves tied with a ribbon at the bottom, the centre bears the inscription DEM KANALWARTER KARL HEINR.
