The outer semi matte olive drab painted metal shell is constructed of non magnetic manganese steel and features the rounded rim of the Type II variant. It is marked CL C for manufacture by the Canadian Motor Lamp Co. (Windsor, Ontario, Canada) as well as size stamped 77 and dated 1942. The chin strap is constructed of canvas with dual integrated springs for
