many of these helmets were reconfigured for use into the 1920s and 1930s

which superseded the M-1905 massively heavy and expensive

though they have unfortunately suffered a bit of mothing

There is a name signature in the lower right corner, "RIER" or something similar that we can't quite make out. The subject is wearing a standard M 36 Field Tunic, and the tresse border around the collar and litzen insignia indicates
