The Royal Horse Guards, known as the Blues and Royals are, together with the Life Guards, better known as the Household Cavalry. In simple terms the Horse Guards wore blue tunics with red horsehair plumes on their helmets and the Life Guards wore red tunics with white horse hair plumes.
